DAN O'BRIEN: In 1994 during the National High School Decathlon Championships in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Dan O'Brien began an enduring relationship with New Earth. In 1996, New Earth was privileged to sponsor Dan's successful run for an Olympic gold medal in Atlanta. This was only the beginning of a relationship founded in both the products and true friendship. Dan credits the algae and the people behind the products for providing him with the mental and physical edge to compete against the best athletes on the planet. New Earth continues to support Dan in his various athletic endeavors.
Olympic Heptathlete, Jackie Johnson
JACKIE JOHNSON: Going to the Olympics is a "dream come true" for our newest member of Team New Earth, Jackie Johnson! During the 2008 Olympic Trials that were held in Eugene, Oregon, New Earth was fortunate enough to meet Olympic contender Jacquelyn (Jackie) Johnson. Jackie made her Olympic debut in Beijing in 2008 where she competed in the heptathlon. The women's heptathlon consists of the following events: 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200-meters, long jump, javelin throw, 800-meters. Her strongest being the hurdles and high jump. Jackie has been named the most accomplished heptathlete in collegiate history and is coached by our very own Olympic decathlon gold medalist, Dan O'Brien. It's this connection with Dan that first led her to New Earth products in the fall of 2007 and her love of Wild Bluegreen Body and Wild Bluegreen Mind along with Super Q10 that have kept her coming back for more.
Mountain Climber, Gabriel Filippi
GABRIEL FILIPPI: In the spring of 2000, Gabriel Filippi truly challenged himself to new heights. He attempted to climb the highest and most infamous peak in the world—Everest. New Earth was a product sponsor of this expedition, and is pleased that Gabriel sees wild bluegreen algae as an essential element to his success. The heights of Everest may be the only peak that Gabriel has not yet reached! He has traveled the world and roamed about in more than 25 countries! He is multi-lingual, speaking French, English, and Spanish.
Olympic Cross Country Skier, Laura McCabe
LAURA MCCABE: Laura McCabe was a cross country track star in college, who did not start Nordic skiing until the age of twenty-two. Five years later, she made the Olympic team. She is considered one of the top cross country skiers in the world, and took first place in the 1999 Birkebeiner, part of the American Ski Marathon Series. Laura regularly eats the algae, and says, "I honestly do not think I could manage without the extra life and energy New Earth products bring to me. They help give me that extra edge. Thank you!"
US Duathlon Team Member, Ray Martin
RAY MARTIN: Ray Martin is an algae-eating member of the US Team for the Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) and participated in the World Cup Finals. "As a scientist, I experiment with new and emerging products and equipment all the time. Having gotten used to finding products `all show and no go' I've been very surprised and pleased with the results I'm getting with Aphanizomenon flos-aquae—wild bluegreen algae. The fact that it is a safe, natural food at the foundation of earth's food chain provides reassuring peace of mind." Ray Martin has recently re-located to Jackson, NJ. He is now a 6-time member of the U.S. Duathlon and was co-captain for the 2000-2001 season. His daily consumption of New Earth products remain an integral part of his success!
Long Distance Runner, Darrell General
DARRELL GENERAL: Darrell General is one of the fastest long distance runners in the United States. Darrell has been eating wild blue green algae since 1996. Within weeks of eating the algae, he found that he had more energy, could train harder and more consistently. "If you are running to win, you have to eat to win." At the May 7th Olympic marathon trials, Darrell finished 28th out of a field of 120, with 30 entrants failing to finish under the grueling conditions of high heat and humidity. Darrell will continue to represent us in the Pan Am Games, US World Championships, and other races.

Olympic Skier, Bryna McCarty
BRYNA MCCARTY: Bryna McCarty started skiing when she was two years old, and by the time she was seven she was participating in ski races. Now at the ripe old age of 22, she is a World Cup racer who has recently learned about the extra "edge" that she gets from including New Earth products in her daily eating regime. After hearing her aunt, Stacie Noble, talk about New Earth products for a long time, Bryna decided to try them for herself. She now realizes that our products have helped improve her skiing performance and they've also helped her deal with a demanding schedule that includes travel to many different countries and an inconsistent restaurant diet. "I think it's really important to have these products fill in the nutritional gap," she says. "Being an athlete, it's key to be as healthy as possible at all times, and ready for anything!" She appreciates New Earth Essentials for their ease and portability, and loves BG Bars™, which she says are "great and handy!" And, knowing that this is as much a mental sport as a physical one, Bryna makes sure she also eats Wild Bluegreen Body and Wild Bluegreen Mind.
Bryna is the 2005 Women’s U.S. National Super G Champion. Bryna is in her third year on the U.S. Ski Team and participated in the 2006 Olympics. Bryna continues to appreciate the impact New Earth products have on her performance.
Barrel Racing Champion, Kappy Allen
KAPPY ALLEN: Kappy Allen won the world championship in barrel racing in the year 2000. In 1998 Kappy bought an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) registered gelding, Risky Chris. Ultra Trail Racer, Van Huynh-Leap
VAN HUYNH-LEAP: My whole life I've been telling myself "don't be afraid". And it is only now that I'm realizing how stupid that is. Don't be afraid is like saying "don't move out of the way when someone tries to punch you" or "don't flinch at the heat of fire" or "don't blink". Don't be human. I'm afraid and you're afraid and we're all always going to be afraid, because that's the point. What I should be telling myself is "be afraid, but do it anyway". Live anyway. Those aren't my words, but when I first read that, I decided it was time to try something that might scare me -- like skydiving, running a marathon, etc...
I believe after running my first marathon in 2005, I truly began to live. I was empowered by my finish, and it really didn't matter my finish time. I knew I had trained for 6 months prior to the race and had to overcome a stress fracture that put me in a cast for 4 of those weeks. All those emotions, thoughts, and instincts I gained crossing that finish line embodied a spirit in me that I never knew existed. The empowered me went on that year to run 14 marathons -- most of them out of Florida and some were even trail marathons.
The following year I ventured into more trail running, learning about technical mountain terrain and elevation. I even tried my hand (and legs) at 7 triathlons -- yup, bought a road bike and trained here in the open water in Miami Beach. I discovered I did not love swimming and moments before hitting the water as the bullhorn sounded for the start of the race, I was scared. I realized that if I could make it through the 400 or 800 meter swim, I'd be home free. The triathlons to me were really just "swim races" because I could kick butt in the bike and definitely the run portions. My best finish time was at the Florida Atlantic University Wellness Triathlon, where the waves were sky high and why didn't my friend who recruited me to sign up tell me about the intimidating ocean swim?? I dove into that without a second thought, finished with my personal best time, and then I was never scared again.
The 26.2 mile distances I ran over the years became too easy and my body was not challenged. I learned about ultra distances (any race over 26.2 miles) and decided my love for trails could be combined with those runs. I began running in the mountains of Tennessee, N. Carolina, Vermont, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc. There I found my little slice of heaven and the longer the distance, the better I was at it. I tackled stage races where the distances were 18, 22, and 20 miles Friday, Saturday, Sunday respectively, each run on its separate mountains in Chattanooga, TN. There were races at some of the toughest mountains, like the Stump Jump 50K in TN and the Superior Trail Races in MN. I loved them all and each finish line crossing became part of me.
I have been running distance races for over ten years now. My most recent challenge has been running the Sawtooth 100 in Minnesota. My training for this 100 mile race has involved numerous back to back weekend ultra races, consisting of 50K (31.1 mi) and 50 milers. My "training" in between those races include gym time and running the bleachers at the track and field by the house. I have come to understand that recovery is as much a part of training as the physical exercise is.
The introduction of New Earth products, namely Wild Essentials and Edge have made some significant impact on my endurance and recovery. After being on these products for only six monthsconsistently, I have noticed changes in mental clarity, more focus in my training and quicker recovery periods between races. These changes occurred after only the first six weeks of adding these superfood sports nutrition supplements to my running regimen! I have learned to double up on the Edge, before and after packets, when I'm running my 50 Km races. I also supplement my recovery routine with Rebound.
I have noticed a big impact on how my body responds to New Earth Wild Essentials and Edge. I ran 4 races in 4 weeks, the first of which was a trail marathon and the last three, 50 Km races; each of these with their own difficulties ranging from sandy dunes, swamp crossings, giant horseflies and unbearable heat to the mental game one plays during the struggle to the finish line. I run with the knowledge that my body can handle almost anything, but it's my mind that I have to convince. There were moments when I thought about stopping, then ran harder. Where the New Earth Wild Essentials has helped me most has been with my mental fortitude. It's what I refer to as SISU (see'-soo) from the Finnish: "ultimate determination, fortitude, and persistence, carried to an unfathomable level". I believe with continued use of New Earth products, I will achieve super-sized courage and abilities.
Although I may not necessarily understand the intricate science behind the products, I know my body. I'm not one to use anything other than over the counter vitamins as part of my regular nutrition. But after reading and learning what makes New Earth different than the rest of everything out there, I'm excited about integrating New Earth into my training plan for the Sawtooth 100. “If we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives.” -- Lemony Snicket
